Application process for the ELPA department

  1. Submit online graduate application for admission
  2. Submit the following documentation to:
    • Director of Graduate Studies
    • Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis
    • University of Missouri-Columbia
    • 202 Hill Hall
    • Columbia, MO 65211-2190
    1. Official copies of your transcripts
    2. Official GRE and, if appropriate, TOEFL examination scores (In addition, send TOEFL scores to Graduate School, 210 Jesse Hall)
    3. Three official letters of recommendation (on letterhead with original signature)
    4. Departmental application form - specific to emphasis area – M Ed program with an emphasis in Learning and Instruction (Initial Principal Certification)
    5. Current resume

 Before a student accumulates six hours of core course work (two courses) they need to complete and submit the above application materials. Course work taken beyond the six hours before admission into the degree program does not have to be accepted by the department toward a degree. This expectation of not more than six hours prior to admission was established to prevent students from taking multiple courses without faculty advisement. With admission to the program and faculty advisement, students can be assured that the courses they take will apply toward their degree. This is not the case if the student is proceeding through course work without the support of an official department advisor.
