Social Studies Education: Online Master’s Degree

Admission criteria

 

Admission to the Master’s program will be based upon the following criteria:

  • Completed bachelor’s degree (from a regionally accredited institution)
  • Undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 hours of course work) – preferred
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores.
    • Preferred score: verbal plus quantitative total of 900.
  • Letters of recommendation (letters should attest to your professional competence, academic preparation and potential for graduate work)
    • two required if your undergraduate GPA is 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
    • three required if your undergraduate GPA is below 3.0
    • three required for international students
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Applicants need to be actively engaged in a K-12 classroom setting and certified in social studies education or approved field with the possible exception of international students.
