Master's Degree or Post-Baccalaureate Certificate
Coursework in the Personal Financial Planning Department helps students prepare to sit for the rigorous national CFP® examination, utilizing the convenience of online education. While your degree will be from the University of Missouri-Columbia, the courses you take are taught by members of the Great Plains IDEA consortium, where MU is a member. This cooperative arrangement allows us to offer courses in a timely manner and to utilize the expertise found in this larger collective of institutions.
This program prepares the student to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ of distinction, as it not only provides training in the technical aspects of financial planning but also incorporates the human side of financial planning. In addition to the mastery of financial planning tools, attention is given to building productive client relationships and understanding the factors that affect a client’s financial decision-making environment. As both research and professional practice attest, technically sound, ethical, client-centered services are at the heart of a successful financial planning practice.
