Journalism Education: Online Master’s Degree
Post-baccalaureate students
You may start taking courses toward your degree while you are in the process of applying to the degree program. A total of 9 hours may be taken as a post-baccalaureate (formerly non-degree) graduate student prior to acceptance into the academic degree program. Please note:To ensure that all of your hours will transfer into the program, you must be accepted into the degree program before completing 9 hours of course work. Many participants start their course work as post-baccalaureate students.
Course enrollment
MU Direct facilitates the post-baccalaureate admission process by allowing students to complete the MU Direct enrollment form which admits and registers them in their initial semester as post-baccalaureate students. After a student has been admitted to the University as a post-baccalaureate student, this form is used to complete the enrollment process each semester. NO application fee is required.
For a list of courses offered through MU Direct or to begin the enrollment process, go to the Course Catalog.
Transcripts
All post-baccalaureate students who are new to MU will be required to provide an official copy of their undergraduate transcripts (showing degree and completion dates) at time of enrollment. To facilitate enrollment, you may fax a copy to MU Direct at 573-882-5071 but then must mail an official copy to be delivered within the first month of enrollment. Address official transcripts to: MU Direct: Continuing and Distance Education, University of Missouri-Columbia, 102 Whitten Hall, Columbia, MO 65211.
Financial aid
Federal financial aid requires students to be degree-seeking and fully admitted into the degree program.
