Family Nurse Practitioner Online Master’s Degree OptionFamily nurse practitioner

Professionals wanting to advance their education and earn certification as family nurse practitioners will benefit from the online courses and clinical practica offered by the University of Missouri-Columbia Sinclair School of Nursing. Upon completing program requirements, students are awarded a master of science with the family nurse practitioner specialty.

The curriculum prepares nurses to function in the advanced practice nursing role of nurse practitioner, including:

  • understanding the framework of advanced nursing practice
  • participating in primary-care research
  • providing primary health-care to all ages, from infancy through older adult; as well as reproductive and sexual health care for adolescents and adults (family nurse practitioner)
  • developing health promotion and disease prevention education and activities for individuals, families and at-risk populations in the community
  • understanding the health-care issues and needs of rural populations
