Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Online Master’s Degree Option

The gerontological nurse practictioner specialty area for the master of science in nursing curriculum contains courses and clinical practica designed to prepare nurses to function in the advanced practice nursing role of nurse practitioner, including:

• understanding the framework of advanced nursing practice
• participating in primary-care research
• providing primary care to aging individuals and families (gerontological nurse practitioner)
• developing health promotion and disease prevention education and activities for individuals, families and at-risk populations in the community
• understanding the health-care issues and needs of rural populations
