Virtual Learning, Teaching and Curriculum: Online Master’s Degree
Master of education in curriculum and instruction with a major in virtual learning, teaching and curriculum (M Ed)
Online learning is one of the fastest growing areas of education. There are currently 26 state-wide or state-led virtual schools in the United States. In 2007, approximately one million K-12 students were enrolled in an online course, and online learning is expected to grow at an annual pace of 30%.*
It is vitally important that teachers of online courses have the knowledge and skills to be effective in a virtual environment. Teaching online is much more than just transferring content from an existing face-to-face class to a website. You can earn your Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction online while improving your ability to teach online. Designed for those who expect to teach K-12 classes, the 33 credit-hour program of study consists of courses in online teaching methods, curriculum development, and student assessment that are applicable to all academic disciplines. Students are required to further develop their content knowledge through subject-specific coursework. This program is designed for instructors who teach courses that are delivered completely online, or in a hybrid environment that blends traditional classroom instruction with an online component.
