PawPrint and MU E-mail

A PawPrint is the ID needed to access most MU technology resources. All MU faculty, staff and students are provided with a PawPrint. A PawPrint consists of a student's initials and three random characters to ensure security. Your PawPrint combined with a password you create will allow you to access your MU e-mail account and online course sites.

Students will receive a PawPrint/single sign-on(SSO) and temporary password in an admission letter. Students will activate their student PawPrint and create a new password through myZou. After activation, students will have access to their MU e-mail*, online/web-assisted courses, MU Library resources, and more.

*ALL University-related information and announcements will be sent to MU e-mail accounts only. NOTE: MU e-mail accounts are created for University credit students only.

  • Go to myZou and enter the Pawprint/SSO and temporary password. You will be prompted to select a security questions and change your password.
  • You will then need to click on UM-e-Consent and answer the question related to financial correspondence.
  • You will then have access to Self Service and MU email tabs.
  • To access your e-mail, you can click on the button in myZou or go to Webmail and login to your e-mail account using your PawPrint and newly selected password.

If you have not received this information, or if you have lost or forgotten your PIN, please contact MU Direct online or call 800-545-2604 and choose Option 2 for student services.

It generally takes up to 48 hours for the MU system to generate a PawPrint account. Approximately one week prior to the start of your course, you will receive an e-mail containing course access information.

Credit students – via MU Webmail account

Non-credit students – via personal e-mail account

Accessing your MU e-mail/Webmail

Once your PawPrint is activated, you can access your MU e-mail from anywhere with an Internet connection by using Webmail. Webmail is a convenient way to access your e-mail and offers a variety of features. A security certificate must be downloaded from the Webmail site the first time you log in on any computer.

All University-related information and announcements will be sent only to MU e-mail accounts. Note: MU e-mail accounts are created for university credit students only.
